Industrial Grade Garage Floor Coating System
The Elite Floor Coating System can be completed in one day at any temperature and has a very high UV resistance "which means it does not yellow or fade over time compared to traditional epoxies and urethanes". It's ability to resist oil stains and deterioration of salts, gasoline and other contaminates is unmatched. The coating is also extremely impact and abrasion resistant. Our Elite Floor Coating System is ideal for garage floors, automotive sales and service areas, warehouses, medical treatment and pharmaceutical floors, retail areas, public facilities such as restrooms, laboratories, and animal kennels to name a few.
The Elite Garage Polyaspartic Floor Coating Process:
Step 1: Installation of a polyaspartic coating begins with floor preparation. In order to create an open concrete profile that will ensure coating penetration and permanent adhesion, we begin with diamond grinding the surface. With 20-40 grit tooling, we grind just enough to penetrate the paste surface, thus opening up the pores in the concrete. Our grinder is equipped with a filtration dust collection system, that captures virtually all dust created by the grinding process. Acid etching is not recommended, since it adds moisture to the concrete, and can alter the PH of the concrete which often leads to delamination of a flooring product.
Step 2: Cracks and joints are then be repaired. We fill the cracks with sand, followed by wetting the sand with a quick patch material. These repairs can be ground flush with the concrete surface in about 20 minutes. The expansion joints are then caulked to create a finished rolled profile to the bottom of the joint.
Step 3: At this point, the polyaspartic primer coat is applied. This coat is thinned to a watery consistency to allowing “wicking” or penetration into the concrete surface. This penetration to the concrete is key to the superior adhesion of the polyaspartic coating.
Step 4: Within 30-40 minutes, the body coat may be applied. The body coat contains the pigment color of the floor coating. The various chip applications, whether light, heavy, or silica sand, are now broadcast into this coat.
Step 5: Within one hour, the body coat has cured. We then scrape the surface with a floor scraper which removes any loose, excess chips. This provides a smoother texture to the finished floor. The extra chips are vacuumed up and the floor is now ready for a clear coat. A clear polyaspartic coat is applied and the floor is finished.
All of this can be accomplished in a single day. Typically, the new floor can be opened to foot traffic in 2 or 3 hours and
can be driven on within 24 hours.
